These are important usage instructions for using Gift From Japan.com. Please check them carefully before using the service!

Shopping Precautions

  • No COD or Post-payment Purchases: Do not purchase items using payment methods such as “Cash on Delivery (COD)”, “Freight Collect”, or “Post-payment”, or any services where payment is made upon receipt of the goods (e.g., e-collect) when using the forwarding address on Japanese online shopping sites. Also, please do not select “Freight Collect” (receiver pays the shipping cost), as we cannot pay on your behalf.If shipments using such payment methods arrive at the Bridge Japan office, we will refuse to accept them. Cancellation fees from the online store may be charged to you in such cases, which will be your responsibility. Please be careful not to purchase items with COD or freight collect shipping.
  • Spray Cans Cannot Be Forwarded: This includes spray-type hair products, hair growth tonics, lotions, deodorants, gas stove cartridges, etc. Spray cans arriving at the warehouse cannot be forwarded. Please make sure the item you are purchasing is not a spray can.
  • Frozen, Refrigerated, or Perishable Items Cannot Be Forwarded: All items for international shipping are stored at room temperature. Therefore, frozen, refrigerated, or perishable items are at risk of defrosting or spoiling. Frozen items will be refused upon arrival. Refrigerated or perishable items can be shipped, but any damage due to storage or shipping will not be the responsibility of Bridge Japan.
  • Prohibited Items Cannot Be Forwarded: There are items prohibited from international shipping. Such items cannot be forwarded by Bridge Japan.Frequently encountered prohibited items:
    • Perfumes … Highly flammable and cannot be carried on aircraft.

    Prohibited Items List: In addition to general prohibited items, each country has specific prohibited items. Make sure to check the prohibited items for your delivery country as well.

  • Careful with Meltable Foods: Items like candies and chocolates may change in taste or shape due to temperature changes. Although forwarding is possible, Bridge Japan and the purchase site will not be responsible for any melting of the items. Examples include candy, chocolate, gummies, marshmallows, cheese, etc.

Precautions Before Shipping

  • Customs Duties: Customs duties may apply depending on the type, category, and declared value of the contents. If customs duties are incurred, you will need to pay them separately upon receiving the package in your country. Note that customs duties and rates vary by country. Please contact your local customs office for details before purchasing.

Identity Verification

  • Identity Verification: Under Japanese law effective April 1, 2013, all businesses providing postal forwarding services must verify the identity of their customers.We will check the following three items for identity verification:
    • Your name
    • Your date of birth
    • Your current residential address

    Please refer to your My Page for details.

    We will accept and hold your packages even if identity verification is not complete. Your packages will be carefully stored until the verification process is finished.
